Engineers and programmers are the often-anonymous architects of society, and what you do now could make a huge difference to the lives of millions, even billions, of people in decades to come. -Charlie Stross Shaping the Future

note: bare with me through this long post. this should be 3+ posts and is a recap of my entire weekend. take your time reading this. you don't have to read all of it in one sitting. it will be here tomorrow and the next day and...

and what a great weekend it was. steve and i went to berkeley this weekend. steve's agenda: seeing liz (as if he doesn't see a lot of her) and going to her sorority banquet. my agenda: help my cousin move back down to orange county. she is only the second arabe family member to receive a college degree.

we took eliza on the trip and, boy, is she great. she got 20 miles per gallon all throughout our trip. that is a big jump from the 11 mpg she has getting for the past 5 months. we can attribute the big jump in improved gas mileage to the $800 ECU i just bought. one bad thing: there is a lot of lag from 4k+ rpm. the old eliza would bring such a big burst of speed that it was so easy to pass up anybody on the highway. 120mph passes were simple... not that it stoped us this time from hitting 120mph about a 10 times on the way.

friday:
my cousins dragged me to watch "13 going on 30" with them. it is only with them that i watch these chick flicks. they dragged me to watch "bring it on" with them back in the day. although i wasn't too hesitant on that one because my girl ED was in it. oh well, at least the movies they've brought me to weren't bad ones.

"13 going on 30" was a good movie. it had a well-written story and it was executed well. jennifer garner is such a versatile actress. she definitely knows how to play her roles. the movie was very adult in a lot of scenes which was surprising since there we so many kids watching this movie.

i missed out on 2 parties this night. i missed out on matt's (arlene's boyfriend) frat party. there were tons of people there including a gay couple making out on the balcony. but i heard it was banging besides that. he made bank: about $200 profit. i also missed out on lisa's vcn cast party. ggggrrrrr.

i was able to hang out with the family and we went through our normal night-time of laughter. that's just how we are. especially with manong chris and manong julius there. it's always a good time.

saturday:
we ate and moved in the morning. then we ate again after the move. good times.

we were able to pack everything in the back of the truck (thanks to the OCD from manong chris) and inside the odessey. we are such good movers. it's all because of all the moving manang jing/manong chris and manong leo/manang anh do. one bad thing: manong jun dropped a drawer on my finger. it hurt so much. it's getting better now though. i'm a champ.

destiny is so cute! the cutest little girl ever! i wish i could've taken pictures of her. she wouldn't let me go to the bathroom because she wanted to play so she held onto me. she was grabbing my hands, pulling on my shirt, and holding onto my leg. i miss manong jun's humor and destiny's craziness. it's not as extreme as adriel's but it's sooo entertaining nonetheless.

after the moving was over my cousins left and i drove over to berkeley to kick it with steve and liz. we walked around telegraph and i got a shirt from the gap. it's been a while since i've gone shopping. it's a sad matter i don't want to get into. anyways... i was going to buy myself another gap sweater because they had it in gray with black lettering. looked tight but i didn't have $60 to shell out. so i got myself a dope polo shirt.

afterwards, i kicked it with lisa. the best part of the night. chilled at her pad with tan and christine, two of the coolest people in the world. went through http://emotioneric.com/ on christine's computer. very amusing and creative. chillaxed for a few hours.

went to united artist to watch kill bill vol. 2. UA was the same theatre we watched shallow hal at waaaay back when. kill bill was such a good movie. i don't think you can compare it to vol. 1. it's not as action intense as vol. 1 but it's good in its own right. sure it is more about plot development/continuation and there is a whole lot of talking but it fits with the first. the movie had a lot of comedic parts besides the well-put-together action sequences. overall it was very amusing and entertaining and i think it is great. go see it if you can!

afterwards, we went over to "nation's" which is a 24 hour joint much like denny's but not as bougie. they had breakfast ish, burgers, and pies. when we came in, there was a crew of blind fools leaving. the line to buy food stretched to the door and the blind fools kept saying "after you" to the customers standing in line. everyone was like "uhhh... we're not leaving. you are." lol! it was very amusing. the blind people kept thinking people were opening the door for them when in actuality the door was just slowly being closed from the last people walking in. they were saying "thank you" or "that's very kind of you" to air. lol. never seen so many blind people before... ever.

i was very hungry so christine and i split a 3-omellette meal and french toast. man was that ish good. i ate slow because of my cough and because i was squished into the wall. we fit 6 people into a 4 person booth. it was lisa, mike, christine, tan, jen, and myself. we were there until 2 a.m. just chatting away. it was nice getting to kick it with lisa's friends. they are good people.

while dropping jen off we passed by the mcdonalds that omar, annie, thu, and i went to waaaay back when we first went to cal. that was such a looong time ago. that's when we first got to know lisa. lol. we barely knew her back then. and we just randomly called her to hang out. lol.

i crashed at lisa's for the night. i was suppose to stay with liz and steve but i was talking to christine about it and we agreed that it would be too ackward for me to stay with the couple and that it would be okay for me to sleep on their large, comfortable futon. lol. lisa didn't know i was staying with her until i followed her inside her apartment.

slept around 3:00. the two girls talked until we fell asleep. it was interesting listening to them talk. it's different from the way two guys talk....

sunday:
woke up at 10:30 when steve called. said he was going to eat in an hour. told him "okay" and went back to sleep. woke up again when steve called around 11:30. told him "yeah" and went back to sleep. finally woke up around noon.

had lunch with steve and liz at some new italian joint on durant. good food.

there was such good weather all throughout the week. i've never seen the berkeley sun soo much ever before. it was hot up there. after lunch, liz had the great idea of getting.... drumroll please.... MONDO GELATO! (now called "gelatina naia" or something like that)

that stuff tasted soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. it was the best possible conclusion to the trip. great idea liz!

if you're reading this....... thanks for being interested in what i do. i appreciate it.
