Engineers and programmers are the often-anonymous architects of society, and what you do now could make a huge difference to the lives of millions, even billions, of people in decades to come.

i got to meet with the lead software engineer for my company yesterday. he came all the way from new york where the rest of our company's big computer guys are. my boss and my boss's boss pulled me to the side to show me a project they are working on that is headed by the lead software engineer. they've seen me program in C++ and VBA and they know that i'm more than just a cash applications specialist (over glorified term for a data entry person dealing with cash). so they're having me program permanently AND they're having me work directly with the lead software engineer on a *HUSH HUSH* project that only he and I are working on. isn't that dope?! i'm not getting paid more than i already am (booo!!!) but hopefully if this project pulls through i'll get a bonus. even if this project doesn't pull through, i'll get to say "hey, i did this at my last job" and that'll surely get me somewhere. but yeah, i'm getting exploited by my company.
