Engineers and programmers are the often-anonymous architects of society, and what you do now could make a huge difference to the lives of millions, even billions, of people in decades to come. -Charlie Stross Shaping the Future

so i just spent 6 hours on the couch with Dell #2 on my lap, surfing the internet. doing nothing productive. well, the first 2 hours i spent analyzing .bin files for Eliza with Dell #1 and Dell #2. soon, i will be able to tune her myself, i just need an eeprom programmer.

i am doing nerdy things more and more. are there any females out there willing to spend time with me doing that?

i am running out of distractions! i've gone through 3 tiers of people i know on myspace. the more i do that the more i realize how unconnected i am to people, not really disconnected... just NOT connected.

what is my space mean? whatever it is, big ups to those with "space". what i would give to have a little bit more "space"...

pretty girls that work on cars... i will fall in love everytime. so far, only once.
i have worked on a car every weekend for the past 2 months. i'm an engineer during the week and a mechanic on the weekends. so if your car is broken, let me know. this past week i worked on paul's friend's girlfriend's 97 toyota tacoma 4wd 5-speed. it has 170k+ miles and has never had a clutch change. when you press down on the clutch the pressure plate doesn't fully release so the transmission is still engaged. so once you get it in gear the car starts moving or stalls. also, the clutch pedal stays stuck to the floor.

being the nice guy that i am, i offered to help out. the first problem: getting the truck to my house to work on it. luckily her truck was across the street about a quarter-mile away. so i had to drive it with a rope tied to the clutch so i can pull the pedal up off the floor. but during the whole drive, i had the clutch fully depressed and it still moved.

the girl said she wanted to help me work on the car. "okay." it turns out she enjoys working on cars and is very mechanically inclined. she's from utah and her dad's a mechanic so she has experience but doesn't know anybody in OC with the tools or experience. despite knowing all that i was still very surprised when she laid down on the driveway and got her hands dirty. "wow, i'm in love. too bad she's taken... the story of my life." in the end she did as much wrenching as i did.

get this though, she's not ugly and she's not average looking. she's pretty! mind you, my views are a bit skewed since i don't see many pretty girls (or girls at all) in the school of engineering. and i don't know if it was the short shorts she was wearing. but i think this is a good call.

that was my weekend. i have the cuts, bruises, scabs, and black fingernails to prove it. here's to automobiles, one of the two greatest, most revolutionary inventions of the 20th century (the other being the silicon transistor). here's to more weekends of wrenching. again, if you have a car that needs to be worked on and have the money for the parts and service, let me know.
